A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the High Commission premises at 9.00 am today to celebrate the 70th Independence Day of India. High Commissioner, Smt. Vijay Thakur Singh unfurled the national tricolor and read out the message of the Rashtrapatiji to the nation delivered on the eve of the Independence Day.

 A film on the 70 schemes of the Government of India titled "70th Year of Independence, 70 initiatives by the Modi Government for people’s welfare" was screened.
Children from seven Indian Schools in Singapore presented a colorful patriotic programme which consisted of dance and songs to mark the occasion. The eventwas attended by around 750 people consisting of Indian nationals, PIOs and friends of India.
