Standard Documents for all Passport Related Services:

Documents required for Passport Renewal: Following documents are required to be submitted along with the passport application form, which can be registered online via the following link https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in/. A print-out of the registered application form, along with one recent coloured photograph with white back ground, size (51mm x 51mm) and taken within the last 6 months, duly signed in the appropriate column, a copy of the existing (or expired) Indian Passport, valid residential status proof (NRIC/EP/SP/DP/WP) in Singapore (along with validity page), are required to be submitted, with the originals produced for verification, if asked for.

Processing times for all Passport services are between 5-8 working days. However, for Lost/Damaged Passports, Change of Particulars, Police Clearance Certificates (PCC) and Emergency certificates, we are unable to indicate a clear timeline, as these services require police verification in India. To give a broad indication, the average turnaround time for these services is 30-40 days (estimated), subject to clearance from the concerned police authorities in India. Tatkaal passport services (where permitted) take a maximum of three working days.

Change of Passport Particulars: In addition to above-mentioned documents for reissue of passports; applicants are required to produce the following documents in the case of change of particulars such as change in name, date of birth, place of birth, appearance, address, addition and deletion of spouse name etc. In all such cases, the applicant is required to apply for a re-issue of the passport with the changed particulars.

Change of Minor child’s particulars: In addition to the above-mentioned documents for reissue of passports, a copy of the parent’s passport and valid residential status proof (NRIC/EP/SP/DP/WP) in Singapore (along with validity page), may also be submitted, along with the originals for verification.

A Deed-poll from a Singapore lawyer, along with the updated birth certificate issued by ICA in the case of a change of name for the child born in Singapore, within the five-year validity of the passport issued in Singapore.

Change in Name: Following marriage, remarriage or divorce, except details provided by the applicant in the application, no proof of marriage/dissolution of marriage or any court orders/decree would be required in the following cases:

(a) An applicant applying for re-issue of passport for incorporation of the name of his/her spouse; (b) A woman applying for change of name/surname in existing passport due to marriage;

(c) Divorcees applying for change of name or for deletion of spouse’s name in existing passport; (d) Re-married applicants applying for change of name/spouse’s name in passport.

In other circumstances for change of name, the applicant (both male and female) should furnish, the following, to establish that the applicant has actually changed his/her name:

(i) clippings of two local newspapers or the Gazette notification of the concerned State Government, as the case may be;

(ii) at least two public/school documents issued in the desired name to ascertain that the applicant has actually changed his name.

(iii) In case of NRI applicants and their dependent family members who have been staying abroad on long term permanent or work visa/permit, two public documents issued by the local government/local school/educational institution where the student is enrolled may be accepted.

The following cases will be considered as name change and the documents listed above for name change will be required to be submitted:

(i) Married woman wishing to revert to maiden name when not divorced or widowed;

(ii) Change of name upon attaining adulthood from childhood;

(iii) Minor change in name; and

(iv) Change/addition of surname.

 The following cases will not be considered as name change, for the purposes for documentation:

(i) Spelling correction/change of spelling which phonetically does not result in change in name (e.g., D’souza to De Souza);

(ii) Variation of a name as mentioned in Birth Certificate (e.g., Sanjiv to Sanjeev)

(iii) Shifting of words/changing arrangements of various parts of existing name without inserting/ deleting any words /letters in the existing name (e.g., Parmeshwaran Shiva Kumaran to Shiva Parmeshwaran Kumaran). The most recent name as shown in at least a couple of personal documents, educational certificates etc. issued by Government authorities are to be submitted in such cases.

(iv) Splitting of given name into first name and surname may be allowed subject to production of at least two public documents in the said name.

 Change in date of birth: In addition to the above-mentioned documents for reissue of passports, please submit a copy of DOB proof, along with the originals for verification. Proof of Date of Birth can be a School or College Certificate or a Birth Certificate.

Change in place of birth: In addition to the above-mentioned documents for reissue of passports, please submit a copy of the proof of place of birth, along with the originals for verification.

Change in Address: In addition to the above-mentioned documents, please submit a copy of proof of the address desired, along with the originals for verification. For a change of address: please submit a copy of your Aadhar card, Telephone bill, bank statement, or spouse passport copies.

Change in addition and deletion of spouse name: In addition to the above-mentioned documents for reissue of passports, please submit a copy of proof of your marital status, along with the originals for verification.
