Reforms related to industry undertaken by Government of Madhya Pradesh, India

With the advent of GST, the taxation the scenario has become uniform across India and consequently, distribution cost has become a major differentiator. Madhya Pradesh is strategically located in the centre of India and therefore the distribution costs will be 4-8% cheaper for units based in Madhya Pradesh as compared to that of the other states.

Breaking barriers, State Government led by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has undertaken revolutionary labour reforms. There has been a paradigm shift making these laws less intrusive and invasive. Now the industry is free to hire, choose shifts, choose timings and work at their own paceWomen are allowed to work in night shift and the fixed-term contract is allowed in all industries

Direct procurement from farmers and setting up of private marketing yards is allowed through reforms in agricultural procurement and marketing operations.

High power cost has become a major concern for the industry. Madhya Pradesh has taken a pioneering step in this regard by initiating separate Distribution Company (DISCOM) which will provide power to industry at approx. INR 4 per unit while the prevailing rate is around INR 6.5-7.5 per unit.

Further, for the first time in India, MP has initiated steps to authorise computerised systems to issue licences. If the Competent Authority does not approve the licences within notified timelines, legally valid approvals will be issued by computerised systems automatically.

In an endeavour to make Madhya Pradesh as a Global Investment Hub, we request you to circulate these reforms with the investors and industrial groups. We request you to share the link www.invest.mp.gov.in on your website for easy access.
