a) Entry (X-1) Visa

Singapore/Foreign nationals of Indian origin, his/her spouse and dependent children must apply for Entry (X-1) visa, subject to production of proof of the PIO status, marriage certificate (in respect of spouse) and birth certificate (in respect of children). Foreign spouses of Indian nationals, Spouse of an OCI/PIO card holder and dependent children must also apply for Entry (X-1) Visa subject to production of necessary proof.

Foreign nationals who own property in India may also apply for an Entry visa and submit documentary proof of permission of the Reserve Bank of India for the purchase/holding of the property in India.

Documents required:

• 1. Print out of the online application form duly signed.

• 2. One latest colour photograph with white background (size 2”x 2”)

• 3. Original passport with validity of at least 6 months (Minimum 2 blank pages should be available to stamp the visa)

• 4. Photocopy of passport bio-page and IC copy (NRIC, EP, S Pass or WP)

• 5. Indian nationals who have acquired foreign citizenship need to submit copy of their old and cancelled Indian Passport and Renunciation certificate of Indian citizenship issued to them for Entry (X-1) Visa. 

• 6. For those married to Indian nationals, original Indian Passport of the spouse, marriage certificate and photocopies thereof.

• 7. For children of either parent being an Indian passport holder, please submit child's birth certificate, one of the parents' Indian passports in original and photocopies thereof.

b) Entry (X-2) Visa

‘X-2’ Visa may be granted to - (a) foreign nationals coming to join Auroville Foundation/ Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Puducherry/ Missionaries of Charity, Kolkata/ similar approved organizations, temples and (b) foreign Buddhist Monks coming to join Buddhist Monasteries/ other Buddhist organizations for charity work.

• 1. Recommendation/ invitation letter from the Indian organization

• 2. Copy of the registration document of the organization

• 3. Print out of the online application form duly signed.

• 4. One latest colour photograph with white background (size 2”x 2”)

• 5. Original passport with validity of at least 6 months (Minimum 2 blank pages should be available to stamp the visa)

• 6. Photocopy of passport bio-page and IC copy (NRIC, EP, S Pass or WP)

c) Entry (X-Misc) Visa

Entry (X-Misc) Visas to foreign nationals – 

(1)       ‘X-Misc.’ visa may be issued to foreign nationals who own property in the country, subject to the following conditions:- 

(i) The foreign national must submit documentary proof of permission of the Reserve Bank of India for the purchase of / holding the property in India and the document should show registration of the particular property with the registration authority concerned. 

(ii) “Employment / Business/Studies not permitted” while on X-Misc Visa and an endorsement highlighting the same would be put on the said Visa.

(2)       Minor children accompanying a parent, who has come for medical treatment on a Medical Visa, may be granted ‘X-Misc.’ visa co-terminus with the Medical Visa of the principal visa holder. Such foreign nationals shall not be issued Tourist Visa.

(3)      Minor child/ children from previous marriages of a foreigner who is presently married to an Indian citizen/ Person of Indian Origin/ OCI cardholder may be granted ‘X-Misc’ visa for a period of one year.

(4)    However, either or both parents/ legal guardians (in the absence of parents) of a minor child less than 18 years of age coming on Student Visa (S-1 or S-2) may be granted multiple entry ‘X-Misc’ visa.
