Employment Visa

An Employment visa (E-1 or E-2 or E-3)   may be applied for by skilled and qualified foreign professionals or persons who are engaged or appointed on contract or employment basis at a senior level, skilled position such as technical expert, senior executive, or in a managerial position by companies, organisations, economic undertakings as technicians, technical experts, senior executives etc.

Other categories of foreign nationals eligible for Employment Visa:

  1. 1. Foreign engineers/technicians coming to India for installation and commissioning of equipment / machines / tools in terms of the contract for supply of such equipment / machines / tools;

  2. 2.  Foreign artistes engaged to conduct regular performances for the duration of the employment contract given by Hotels, Clubs, other organizations;

  3. 3. Foreign nationals who are coming to India to take up employment as coaches of national /state level teams or reputed sports clubs;

  4. 4. Self-employed foreign nationals coming to India for providing engineering, medical, accounting, legal or such other highly skilled services in their capacity as independent consultants provided the provision of such services by foreign nationals is permitted under law;

  5. 5. Foreign nationals coming to India as consultant on contract for whom the Indian company pays a fixed remuneration (this may not be in the form of a monthly salary);

Note: The Employment Visa must be issued from the country of origin, or from the country of domicile of the foreigner, provided the period of permanent residence of the applicant in that country is more than two years (no exceptions shall be provided).

Documents required:

  • 1. Print out of the online application form duly signed.

  • 2. One latest colour photograph with white background (size 2”x 2”).

  • 3. Original passport with validity of at least 6 months (Minimum 2 blank pages should be available to stamp the visa).

  • 4. Photocopy of passport bio-page and IC copy (NRIC, EP, S Pass or WP)

  • 5. Applicant must be working in Singapore for more than 2 years. Documentary evidence for the same has to be produced along with application (Previous IC Copies/ Employment letter from current employer for more than 2 years/Experience letter from previous employer stating the duration of work).

  • 6. Proof of contract/employment/engagement for the company in which they will be working. Income must be more than 16.25 Lakhs INR (INR 1.625 million) per annum. It is to be noted that salary should be mentioned in INR only. This condition of annual floor limit on income will not apply to : (a) Ethnic cooks employed by foreign Missions in India (this will not apply to ethnic cooks employed in commercial venture), (b) Language teachers (other than English language teachers) / translators (this will not include teachers employed to teach particular subjects in foreign language), (c) Staff working for the concerned Embassy/ High Commission in India (d) Foreigners, eligible for ‘E’ visa for honorary work with the NGOs registered in the country without salary (e) Foreign teaching faculty employed in the South Asian University & the Nalanda University and (f) Circus artists sponsored by Indian Circus Federation. However, foreigners eligible for honorary work with the NGOs may be paid an honorarium up to a ceiling of Rs. 10,000 per month.

  • 7. Company Letter from India should mention Name, designation, Job title, Place of posting, and Duration.

  • 8. Company Letter from Singapore should mention Name, designation, Job title, Place of posting, and Duration.

  • 9. Previous FRRO registration, if seeking renewal of Visa. 

  • 10. Certificate of incorporation. (Certificate given by the government of India to the Indian Company)

  • 11. Educational and Professional certificates

  • 12. Resume/CV of the applicant.

  • 13. Visa applicants are advised to submit their previous cancelled passport along with existing valid passport while processing the visa application
