Letter from President and Prime Minister of India to President and Prime Minister of Singapore, respectively, on the occasion of Singapore’s National Day

On the occasion of the National Day of Singapore, President and Prime Minister of India congratulated President and Prime Minister of Singapore, respectively, through their letters.

2. In her letter, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, the President of India congratulated H.E. Madam Halimah Yacob, the President of Singapore on behalf of the people and the Government of India. The President noted the deepening and the diversifying bilateral relationship across various areas such as trade, investment, defence, financial technology, skill development and people-to-people ties. She also shared her hope for further achievement of greater collaboration for mutual benefit of the people of India and Singapore.

3. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi appreciated the strong, broad-based and comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Singapore in his congratulatory letter to Singapore PM H.E. Lee Hsien Loong. He reiterated that Singapore remains a key partner for India in our engagement with broader Indo-Pacific region and commands a central position in our Act East Policy.

4. Prime Minister expressed confidence in identification of new growth engines to drive the bilateral relationship, particularly through the institution of India-Singapore Ministerial Round Table.

5. PM Modi also expressed his gratitude for Singapore’s active participation as Guest Country in G20 this year and looked forward to continued support in achieving key objectives of our G20 Presidency.
